Directly in the heart of “Fraenkische Schweiz”, in the Upper Franconian district of Forchheim, is the state-approved climatic health resort Goessweinstein, which is known far beyond the borders of the region, as the largest place of pilgrimage to the Holy Trinity and especially for its baroque pilgrimage basilica and the almost one thousand year old Goessweinstein castle. The town center is characterized by narrow, winding streets with pretty half-timbered houses. Throughout the year, various events take place in the market town of Goessweinstein, including the Balthasar Neumann Music Days, concerts in the Goessweinstein basilica, the festival of lights in Goessweinstein, night watchman tours Goessweinstein and much more.
The „Fraenkische Schweiz“ is one of the oldest holiday regions in Germany. Romantics gave the landscape its name and praise the region as the “hiding place for the German soul”, which is characterized in particular by rugged rock formations, romantic fields and meadows, deeply cut river valleys, gorges and a multitude of caves, castles and ruins. The picturesque landscape attracts many hikers, climbers and nature lovers every year, among motorcyclists the “Fraenkische” is very popular because of its narrow and winding roads.
The Stempferhof was built in the 1930s as a guest house for the numerous Erlangen students, who at that time, already stayed at the Stempfermuehle in Wiesenttal. After the privations of World War II, the house stood empty for a long time and threatened to fall into disrepair. At the beginning of the 70’s, the building was bought by the Johannian Social Work project from Berlin. It was extended, rebuilt and new land was developed for the construction of a spa park, much to the delight of the numerous groups of guests who filled the house with life from then on. At the turn of the millennium, extensive renovation measures were pending, the implementation of which was completed with the reopening in 2007. Since then, the Stempferhof has been welcoming numerous guests from near and far in a new look. A warm welcome to you.
